In his op-ed, AKDN Diplomatic Representative Amin Mawji underscores the vital role of educators in guiding Africa’s “watershed generation” as the continent’s population is set to double by 2050. He highlights the growing adoption of Competency-Based Curricula in countries like Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as a step toward equipping young people with the skills needed for the future. Mawji cautions that successful curriculum reform depends not only on policy documents but also on the people delivering them. This is where initiatives like Schools2030 play a vital role. A ten-year programme operating in ten countries—including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—and led by the Aga Khan Foundation in collaboration with partners, Schools2030 is dedicated to empowering educators and communities within their local contexts. The global forum takes place in Nairobi, Kenya early June.
